SCHOOL SAFETY INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

STANDARD RESPONSE PROTOCOLS

HOLD- "In your room or Area. Clear the Halls."

Protocol is implemented when there is a confidential or medical incident that poses no risk to the security of the building

STUDENTS are trained to:

  • Clear the hallways and remain in their area/room until the "All Clear" is announced

  • Do "business as usual" within their current location

STAFF are trained to:

  • Recover students from hallway

  • Close & lock classroom door

  • Report attendance

  • Do business as usual within your secure space

LOCKOUT

SECURE- "Get inside. Lock Outside Doors & Windows."

Protocol is implemented when there is a potential threat outside of the building that may impact the School Building

STUDENTS are trained to:

  • Return to the inside of the building

  • Do "business as usual" throughout the interior of the building

STAFF are trained to:

  • Bring everyone indoors

  • Secure outside doors and windows and close blinds

  • Increase situational awareness

  • Report attendance

  • Do "business as usual" throughout the interior of the building

EVACUATE

EVACUATE- "To a Location"

Protocol is implemented when there is a potential threat outside of the building that may impact the School Building

STUDENTS are trained to:

  • Leave stuff behind if required

  • Follow evacuation instructions

STAFF are trained to:

  • Bring Attendance Rosters

  • Lead Students to designated Evacuation location

  • Account for Students and adults

  • Report injuries or reconciliation issues

LOCKDOWN

LOCKDOWN- "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight"

Protocol is implemented when there is a potential threat inside of the Building

STUDENTS are trained to:

  • Move away from sight

  • Maintain silence

  • Do not open the door

STAFF are trained to:

  • Recover students from hallway if possible

  • Close/Lock classroom door

  • Move class away from sight

  • Maintain silence

  • Do not open the door

  • Prepare to evade or defend

SHELTER

SHELTER- "Hazard & Safety Strategy"

Protocol is implemented when there is a potential risk of severe weather or natural disaster

EXAMPLE STRATEGIES:

  • TORNADO | Evacuate to designated shelter area

  • HAZMAT | Seal the room

  • EARTHQUAKE | Drop, cover, and hold

  • TSUNAMI | Get to high ground

STUDENTS are trained to:

  • Use appropriate safety strategy for the hazard

STAFF are trained to:

  • Lead safety strategy

  • Account for students & adults
