Providing our educators with incredible learning opportunities ultimately benefits our students. Mrs. Snyder, a PCS high school English teacher, was recently able to not only attend the National Council of Teachers of English conference in Columbus, Ohio, but also present about the use of video in English classes. The four-day conference, which included more than 7,000 attendees, provided learning opportunities through workshops and keynote speakers like actor Tom Hanks, as well as networking with fellow educators, authors, and English scholars. Mrs. Snyder was inspired by a poetry workshop she attended and plans to incorporate several techniques in an upcoming unit with students. She describes the experience as priceless! #PrideInTheHive

Our Chapter 3 Page Turners are kicking off a new season by hosting this morning's competition! #PrideInTheHive

Santa would be thoroughly impressed with all the hard work that our UPK students are putting into preparing for their Christmas program, which is Dec. 21. They have a lot of festive activities - and a few surprises - planned to make it a merry event for their families! #PrideInTheHive

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Ms. Gales' second graders decided to make some applesauce this morning. They've carefully added the ingredients and are eagerly waiting for everything to cook down so the apples can be mashed. Then they plan to enjoy the final product. Yummy! #PrideInTheHive

Our Jr. High FFA members and Mrs. Huttar have been hard at work the last several days baking pies - 20 to be exact - to be distributed to local families for the Thanksgiving holiday next week. All the ingredients for the pies, which include pumpkin, apple, cherry and chocolate, were donated through the Stuff the Turkey Food Drive organized by our incredible PCSD Pupil Personnel Teams. The goal is to provide 12 families in our community with meal kits, along with pies, to help make the upcoming holiday extra special. Thank you to all who have donated, worked behind the scenes to organize, and have supported this initiative. #PrideInTheHive

This morning, the “Give What You Can, Take What You Need” room opened at the High School. Located next to the Nurse’s Office, the space includes toiletries, personal hygiene items, and clothing that our students may need. It’s a welcoming space that will be open during school hours and students can visit without fear of judgement. Junior Tess McLaughlin and Emma McLaughlin, PCS Class of 2023, spearheaded the idea and, thanks to grant funding from The Foundation for Perry’s Educational Future, Inc. and clothing donations from the community, the space came to fruition. If you would like to donate new clothing or shoes, please drop items off at the High School Main Office. #PrideInTheHive

Congratulations to Karin Rice on being named LCAA Coach of the year for volleyball!!!! #PrideInTheHive

Last Thursday, we had the honor of welcoming Mr. Frank Hollister to PES for our annual Veterans Day celebration. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Hollister served as a Navy combat corpsman in Afghanistan, providing medical care to Marines. Students learned about the hardships faced by Mr. Hollister and his fellow comrades as they served thousands of miles from home, including spending Christmas away from loved ones. He brought with him several uniforms and his combat boots, which still had dust from Afghanistan on them.
We thank Mr. Hollister for his service to our country and for sharing his experience with our students. It’s so important that children see the faces and hear the stories of those who have served and be given the opportunity to express appreciation to these individuals. #PrideInTheHive

Christopher Putney received one of the highest honors a student-musician can achieve in the state. The seventh grader performed the bass clarinet with the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Zone 2 Area All-State Symphonic Band on November 4 at Batavia High School. He was only one of two students from the Genesee Valley School Music Association to perform with the group of 75 of the top band students (grades 7-9) from around Zone 2. To be accepted into the group, Christopher successfully auditioned at Solo Festival in May. Congratulations, Christopher! #PrideInTheHive

Our Jr. High students were rakin' and rollin' in the leaves yesterday!!! They were joined at our annual Rake, Rattle and Roll event by faculty/staff and National Honor Society members. This long-standing tradition has allowed our students to give back the community for decades. It was a fun and productive day! #PrideInTheHive (Thanks to our awesome JH team for the photos)

We're being well represented at the FFA National Convention and Expo as our Perry FFA members are spending several days in Indianapolis, Indiana! Yesterday, while enroute to the convention, the group visited the Firestone Agriculture Tire Test Center in Ohio. #PrideInTheHive

There has been a flurry of activity today at PES as our students prepare for tonight's Pumpkin Walk! Thank you to all the volunteers who visited today to help with the carving, as well as our awesome maintenance staff who have been keeping our carving areas cleaned. A special shoutout to the DeGroff family for again donating pumpkins for tonight. This event is a great collaboration between our school, families and community. Please join us from 6-7:30 pm (sensory needs time starts at 5:30 pm). #PrideInTheHive

It was a huge night for our unified bowling team!!! In its first-ever match, the team brought home a win over Churchville-Chili. The student-athletes collectively won 7-3 with a total of 2,226 pins. Allie Faryna bowled an impressive 198 in her doubles game to help secure the win. It was truly a team effort from the bowlers, volunteers, and family members. A special thank you to the Perry Bowling Center for hosting the team and allowing us to get this incredible program off the ground. #PrideInTheHive

Buster just wants our kids at PCS to stay safe while riding the bus. That’s why he’s visiting several elementary classrooms today, along with his friends Trisha and Ed from the Bus Garage, to remind students about very important rules to follow as bus riders. #PrideInTheHive

Mrs. Lowery’s 8th grade business students started their own business, School Supply Depot. Students can buy pencils, erasers, folders, snacks and more. Prices range from 25 cents to a dollar. The store is open Mondays and Fridays during 2nd period in the JH technology/business classroom. Students are experimenting with marketing techniques, so we caught them in Mrs. Manchester’s classroom this morning pitching the business to 5th graders. #PrideInTheHive

This week, the WNY College Consortium visited PHS to give upperclassmen the opportunity to meet representatives from 17 area colleges and universities. The event allows students to learn about hundreds of degree programs, network, and explore career options. (Thanks to Mrs. Ellis for sharing the photos). #PrideInTheHive

Our unified bowling team and Coach Goodell held its first practice last night! We are grateful that through a NYSPHSAA grant and a partnership with the Perry Bowling Center, we can offer this opportunity to student-athletes this year. The team has four matches this season, with a culminating event in November. #PrideInTheHive

When we talk about making connections with our students, our teachers and staff are the best of the best. You won’t find a group more dedicated to their students’ success or more in-tune with their individual needs. Whether it’s in the classroom, walking through the hallways, or visiting The Autism Nature Trail like this morning, the passion and love these educators have for their students shines through. #PrideInTheHive

Even our very own Perry Yellowjacket got into the pie-throwing action during the pep rally, ultimately showering Mr. Shuskey with whipped cream! Friday was all about the Blue and Gold with lots of fun activities organized by Student Government and Stand Up Club, and culminating in a big LPW win in the evening. #PrideInTheHive #Homecoming2023
