Our Chapter 1 Page Turners are currently taking on teams from Mount Morris, York, Livonia and Geneseo at the spring competition right here at PES. Glancing around the ES/JH auditorium, it's evident how excited the students are to finally be able to put their hard work to the test. It’s also clear that loved ones are just as eager for the opportunity to cheer on their favorite readers. Good luck to all! #PrideInTheHive
Mrs. Emerson's high school photography students had some fun during yesterday's class. How do we know? They were simply glowing! The class experimented with creating artwork with glow sticks and then captured the fun on camera. #PrideInTheHive

There was whipped cream flying all over the PES gym this afternoon, but what a sweet ending to Literacy Festival Week! We hope our students enjoyed the fun activities to celebrate reading and literacy...because we sure did! #PrideInTheHive
Yesterday, the Sr. High Band and Mr. Hirsch were visited by Dr. Timothy McGarvey, Professor of Instrumental Music and Conducting, Director of Instrumental Music Activities, and Wind Ensemble Conductor at Houghton University. On March 13, the university's wind ensemble and our band members will perform in a joint concert at Houghton. Dr. McGarvey visited to help our student-musicians prepare for the performance. This is an incredible opportunity for all involved! #PrideInTheHive
We love it when Perry Rotarians visit PES during Literacy Week to share their favorite books with students! Mr. Fitch even brought in a bag filled with stuffed bears to go along with his books. #PrideInTheHive
After months of preparation, our Odyssey of the Mind teams will compete in the Region 15 Tournament this coming Saturday at Mount Morris CSD. Team members thrive at being creative, thinking outside the box, and working together to problem solve. We wish them the best of luck, along with Coach Duell, Coach Rowley and Coach Wilkie! #PrideInTheHive
Congratulations to senior Andy Kelly on committing to play football at Alfred University! Yesterday, Andy was joined by his family, Assistant Principal Wyant, and Coach Leitten to celebrate this achievement. He plans to study Criminal Justice while at Alfred. #PrideInTheHive #ClassOf2024
The start of Literacy Festival Week has us really moo-ving at PES! We kicked off festivities today by dressing like cows, and making butter with Stephanie Czerniak from Wyoming County Cornell Cooperative Extension. We're finishing the day with a visit from Emily Perl, Wyoming County Dairy Ambassador, who is passing out milk donated by the Smithgall family and Old Acres Farm. We can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings! #PrideInTheHive
On Saturday evening, during halftime of the Class A boys' basketball Section V championship game, senior Bryce Tallman was recognized as the Bruce Johnson Scholarship Award Winner.
The scholarship is given in memory of Bruce Johnson, the long-time treasurer of Section V, who passed away suddenly in 1998. Sponsored by Dean Licata and Associates, the one-time cash award of $500 may be paid directly to the college of the recipient's choice or used for college books or other defined school supplies.
The recipient has proven himself in academic achievement, community service, and leadership, as well as plans for a future career in business. Congratulations, Bryce!!! #PrideInTheHive #ClassOf2024

PCS Community...the nets, and windscreens (Already tested) have been installed. It's March 1st...the tennis/pickleball courts are open!

Today, the Perry Central School District recognizes its most recent graduate, and offers its condolences to the entire Saunders family. Mark’s education was non-traditional in that his classroom was our community, and his teachers were his family, friends, and countless acquaintances throughout our Village. Mark understood the value of relationships, and always ensured those he encountered received a warm greeting, and knew who he was. He was a model of service for generations in our community.
The Perry Central School District awards this honorary diploma to Mark Vernon Saunders. May we continue to remember Mark in our interactions with, and service to each other.

Before February break, Mrs. Borek’s third graders held an “out of this world” party to celebrate finishing the Wit and Wisdom module about space and the moon. They drew their own constellations, and wore their pajamas to school so they could get comfy while watching the movie “Fly Me to the Moon.” Students also had some fun bringing in space-related treats, like Cosmic Brownies, Starbursts, Milky Ways, Moon Pies, and much more. #PrideInTheHive
The Arts Council for Wyoming County, in partnership with Wyoming County School Districts, will host the 2024 All-County High School Art Exhibition from March 1 to March 30. Artwork will be displayed at the Main Gallery on South Main Street in Perry. We hope you'll stop in to support our very talented student-artists. Congratulations to Briar Townes, Jaeden Ball, Emma Gifford, Jadison Butler, Leslie Pena-Castro, and Lauren Holderer, as well as Mrs. Emerson! #PrideInTheHive

The rifle team ended its regular season with a win over Pavilion/York 1,060-936. Top scorers for the Yellowjackets were Logan Church (284), Levi Church (268), Natalie Jaques (258), and Elizabeth Wright (250). Logan was the overall match winner and scored a perfect 100 in prone.
We came to play. And that’s exactly what we did today at PES. We joined countless other schools around the world by celebrating Global School Play Day. Students were invited to bring in games, toys, dolls, art supply, crafts – anything that wasn’t electronic – to spend the day playing in their classrooms.
An entire day of just playing? Yes! The benefits of childhood play are significant. It provides one of the best opportunities for social-emotional learning in children, while promoting cognitive and physical development. Students abandoned their electronics and used their imaginations, laughed, compromised, conversed, learned more about their classmates and teachers…and just had fun.
We can't think of a better group to represent PCS at the FFA State Leaders' Experience! Great work by Gio, Noelle, Courtney, Abbey, and Logan advocating for agricultural education and FFA this week in Albany. #PrideInTheHive

Coaches Quote:
“It was a great team effort tonight as everyone made significant contributions in the win. Trenton Washburn and Beau Slocum continue to solidify our defense inside and we got the ball moving on offense. We look forward to a big challenge on Saturday night at Mt. Morris”
Another engaging meeting for the members of the District Safety Committee, except Sunny. He decided to take his break during the communications presentation.

We are fortunate to have THE BEST School Counselors in our Social-Emotional Learning Department. Thank you Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Kettle, and Ms. Ayers for everything you do for our students.
Please join us in celebrating our team members during National School Counselor Week.

Facing your fears or meeting a challenge head-on can be scary, especially if it’s in front of your peers. We’re proud of our fifth graders for doing just that this afternoon.
After finishing their current Wit and Wisdom module about word play, Mrs. Manchester, Mrs. Marti, Ms. McDanel, and Ms. Leavy suggested that their students host a stand-up comedy show. They’ve spent the last couple weeks developing jokes, writing stories, and perfecting punchlines. Not only are we impressed that students got up on the stage this afternoon to deliver their material, but their classmates were extremely encouraging and supportive in the audience. #PrideInTheHive
